OVADA logo

Oxford is home to a large Hindu Community. Working with members of the Oxford Hindu Temple and Community Centre a special event celebrating Diwali will be taking place at the OVADA Warehouse. Local artists Harmanpreet Randhawa and Mita Vaghela are working with a group from the South Asian community to transform the space. Giant rangoli with diyas create patterns on the warehouse floor while a light installation of saris hang from the ceiling beams. A procession from the city centre to OVADA, led by a traditional dhol drum player and dancers, will be welcomed at the warehouse by a live DJ (Rizmi), traditional chai, Indian sweets and snacks alongside Indian street food vendors.

OVADA will be hosting diya (lantern) making workshops led by artist Kashmira Patel on Thursday 9 November from 12.30pm-2.30pm and on Saturday 11 November from 2-4pm.
