Lantern Parade

“Everywhere we looked everyone was smiling. There were hundred & hundreds of people watching and cheering for US!”

participating school teacher

The theme of the festival this year is ‘Discovery’, and the lantern parade project will bring together artists, schools and community groups to design and make lanterns that respond to the festival theme.  The groups will come together to share and showcase these creations in a lantern parade through the city centre on Friday 15th November.  This will be followed by an exhibition of the larger lanterns in an outdoor city centre location for all festival goers to see close up!

We are currently fundraising for this part of the festival so that we can offer this opportunity to between 10 and 15 groups across the city, however even with a successful fundraising campaign, we still have to ask for a small contribution towards materials and artist fees for participating groups which will be approximately £250-£350.
