Lantern Parade

The parade involved over 400 people from schools, community groups and local bands, led by the Sea Cadets. The lanterns were inspired by the theme 'Undiscovered Oxford' Expect a fantastical flying creature, beautiful scientific objects and a ghostly visitor from the past. Dreams of canals, castle, astrology and magic.designed by Paul Batten, featured over 300 books, a hot air balloon (from Around The World in 80 Days by Jules Verne), a giant compass (from Philip Pullman's Northern Lights), an illuminated bicycle (from The Boy Who Biked The World by Alastair Humphreys) and a spectacular globe.
