Chirp & Drift by Kathy Hinde
Friday 20 & Saturday 21 November 4.30pm-8pm
An illuminated bird orchestra
As the dusk draws in, a flock of moving, glowing musical sculptures will begin their night time chorus. These bird-like instruments, perched in a tree, start their morse code chatter generated from the bird-themed street names in Blackbird Leys and real-time tweets from the audience.
Watch the live stream of a flock of moving, glowing, musical sculptures with their gentle tones and harmonies from their tree roosts. The live film will be available here, from 4.30pm-8pm, over the festival weekend. Between these times you can interact live with the installation by tweeting about one of the featured birds. Chirp & Drift will play the musical video of your chosen bird, along with your tweet. Use the hashtag #ChirpDriftOxford and a bird name from Blackbird Leys or Greater Leys streets.
Chirp & Drift is created by Kathy Hinde and presented by OCM.
With bespoke software programmed by Matthew Olden. Commissioned by Lancaster Arts and Light up Lancaster 2018.
This special online edition is filmed in the gardens of St George's Hall, Bristol.
